If you know me, you know I’m often reluctant to try new things when it comes to my hair, I know what works for it and I just kinda let it do it’s own thing really.
You’d also know I’m reluctant at spending a fair amount on products that I’ve not used before, besides my Bedhead shampoo and conditioner I don’t tend to use expensive products on my hair, simply because I have so much of it, it would cost a small fortune to keep stocking up on it! But I don’t know what it was but when Jamie and I were in Swansea’s LUSH store, I was drawn to this!
I’ll be honest, I went for the smell, I didn’t actually read up on the different types before I bought this one. A, because there wasn’t anything about them, or a price tag. And B, mint is peng. So I kinda just went with the notion of, “f*ck it.” Which is not really me but hey!
Now, I don’t know if you’ve ever had one, but those hot chocolate sticks that you stir into hot water we’re my faves when I was younger (totes not tempted to run get one from the shop now) and it’s safe to say that visually this product stood out to me because of that reason.
So, I gave it a whirl.
Although there are instructions on the stick, saying to stir the oil stick into boiling water, the ever so minimal smart bits in me, thought that boiling hot water on my head would, well, hurt like a bitch. So I actually ended up Googling it and it said to wait 20 mins for the mixture to cool!
So, I stirred it in, waited 20 minutes, awed at the fact it kinda looked like a kiwi, and then rubbed it into my hair, not really expecting major results but hey! Try anything once.
See what I mean? Kiwi!
As I waited a further 20 mins for the oils to work their magic, I thought about a ray of things; including bath bombs, food and whether I actually liked the smell of this hot oil stick. It’s kind of like a peppermint/ spearmint smell and sort of smells like toothpaste, but at the same time it doesn’t.
It’s made of spearmint oil, extra virgin olive oil, organic jojoba oil and coarse sea salt! Ideally having an end result of volume and hair regrowth (even more evidence I didn’t know anything about it before I bought it! If there’s one thing I don’t need, it’s for my hair to grow anymore!) so let’s see what I thought:
It’s no denying that my hair smells great, like really great! There are no notes of my shampoo really, just the Yuge oil hair treatment, even after a few days my hair still smells minty which is actually really different and I love it!
My hair is softer and it feels healthier! Although the whole process took almost an hour and I was a little apprehensive, I’m glad I tried it, although I might now be a little hooked! Let’s see in 4-6 weeks if my hair feels any different to now before I purchase some more, but £6.50 once a month for super nice hair is something I’m completely on board with!
You can give this a go by purchasing one in store or here online! I’d love to know your thoughts on it! 🐝
