Happy Birthday Arkham City!

Hey guys, this week Batman: Arkham City turned 6 years old!

Wow.. 6 years.. really?

Yep, I feel the same way.

So to celebrate, I thought I’d dedicate this week’s post to the game! Yaaaay!!

As you probably already know, Batman: Arkham City takes place months after the previous game, Batman: Arkham Asylum (which is also a fantastic game, but I will talk about it another time)!

The game consists of The Dark knight himself investigating a closed off area in the heart of Gotham, as former warden Quincy Sharp has moved inmates from both Blackgate Prison and Arkham Asylum to the area, known as Arkham City (hence the game title). Dr. Hugo Strange runs said area, and the game includes all time favourite characters of the DC Universe, The Joker included, of course.

From this alone, we could tell that we were in for a treat (or trick) with this game, even back in 2011!

I remember binge playing this action filled delight in my bedroom on my Xbox 360. There’d be days where I wouldn’t see my family, because I just couldn’t stop playing. The game itself was so addictive, I’d spend hours trying to polish of my combat techniques, and learn how to counter enemies at the right moment.

I mean, it’s not like I still do this now or anything… haha..

Moving on..

So once again, the game is filled with the detective skills, combat and stealth abilities and obviously, the gadgets, like the almighty Batclaw! (Damn you remote controlled Batarangs!)

Since Arkham City released back in 2011 (SIX YEARS?!!), there have been more releases of the Batman: Arkham games. In October 2013, Batman: Arkham Origins was released, which was more like a prequel to the entire series. (This is also one of my all time favourites, even if I did spend four days trying to KO Deathstroke..)

But in all seriousness, this game is class, and people loved it. In fact, it remains to in eight place for the best selling game on PlayStation 3, as there were roughly 5.49 millions copies sold! Wowzers!

If I had one negative thought about this game, is that I personally think it ends quite abruptly. But I suppose there’s so much content in this game, it can be forgiven! Plus, there’s the entire series to play, so you’ve got nothing to lose!

So if you haven’t played this game yet and you’re an action filled, video game fanatic! You need to!

I’d give this game a: 9/10!

This game really did live up to expectations, mine included.

This is me, signing off!!
