Ranting: We All Do This

Yes, we are all guilty of ranting. I rant at least once a week without a miss, and I am not ashamed. I think ranting is important in order to let out any pent up emotions, so that it isn’t bottled up and you don’t just explode on someone. For this post, I thought I would write the best ways I think a person should rant without hurting someone else, or even themselves, and ways they should avoid.

So let’s start with the best ways to rant

I find this is a brilliant way to rant, writing to yourself. You can either write on paper, or type up on your laptop/iPad/tablet/phone. That way it is to yourself, so you don’t affect others but you let it out.

A friend
Most of us have that one friend, sometimes two, that we can literally go to and say ” I need to rant ” and they will be ears and just ears. They may occasionally give words of encouragement of show you you’re being an idiot, but they will be ears regardless and it’s good to have someone like that.

Ways you should avoid ranting

Social Media
I know sometimes it is good to rant on social media, but only when it’s something that can start a HEALTHY debate. However, ranting to purely rant, I think is harmful on social media. This is because most of the time it can hurt a persons feelings, or start up rage and in turn hurt you.

Ranting to loads of different people
I believe this is one way you should avoid because ranting to different people can sometimes cause friction, and it may, unfortunately, at time cause words to be twisted and in turn cause more issues in the future. So, stick to that one or two you can trust with your life.

As a bonus, I thought I would also write for those that just want ways to ‘calm down’ if they feel they may rant to the person that they want to rant about.

Take a walk
The most simple and effective thing, walking. Put some music in, or take a trusted friend, and go for a nice walk.

 Listen to music
This one is a personal favourite of mine. Music is very therapeutic, so use it to your advantage.

For those that may be spiritual or religious, I think this is a good one. Just sit down, talk to whoever it is you worship and just pray. Or close your eyes and meditate.

These are just a few points, however, I know people work in different ways. So, I want to know what works for you! So, drop me a comment and let me know!
