I have worked in retail for 3.5 years, and there are many things that annoy me and my work friends. I work mainly in the fitting room so most of these relate to that.

  1. NOT PUTTING THE CLOTHES ON THE HANGER

So many people decide to not hang the unwanted clothes on the hanger. Or even leave the hangers in the fitting room, which is the biggest pain when it’s busy because you can’t always check the fitting rooms while it’s busy. So you’re left with a massive pile of clothes.

2. NOT PICKING WHAT YOU WANT

Everyone seems to try clothes on but only decide which ones they want ONCE they are talking to you. This creates a queue as apparently they didn’t have enough time to decide what they want to buy while in they were in the fitting room.

3. STATING THE OBVIOUS

The shop floor is a mess?! Well, I had no idea!!! It’s not like I spend my whole 9-hour shift picking up the mess the customers make? And yes I see you drop the item on the floor and not pick it up, douche.

4. ‘THIS SHOP NEVER HAS MY SIZE’

Despite what you think Fiona, we don’t have some vendetta against you by making sure we never have your size. Unfortunately for you, you’re not the only person in the whole who is a UK size 12.

5. MOANING AT ME

Like any job we have targets to meet so don’t be annoyed when we ask for email receipts/ store cards/ online orders. This must be shocking but we DON’T actually like to ask for this stuff, it’s part of the job.
