Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Wishlist

With Nintendo and Game Freaks latest instalment in the Pokemon franchise a little over a month away, the 2 companies are being uncharacteristically tight lipped about what we can expect from the new release.

What we know so far…

Honestly we don’t know much, we know that the games have an alternate story compared to their earlier paired versions, we know that there will be a greater variety of older generation Pokemon available to catch, new trials and areas of Alola to explore, that there will be at least two new Z-moves; Clangorous Soulblaze and Splintered Stormshards, at least two new Ultra Beasts; UB Assembly and UB Burst, that Lycanroc will have a Dusk Form and finally Necrozma will somehow fuse with the box legendary Pokemon to become Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma.

With such a small amount of information given so close to release fans are speculating all sorts of different possibilities that could be included in the release. Here’s a list of the things I’d like to see…

1.     More interesting postgame content

Something the Pokemon Sun and Moon lacked was an extensive and interesting postgame, while there is plenty to do, it really just boils down to repetitive fetch quests and the battle tree. Earlier entries in the franchise such as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire included a mini additional story known as Delta Episode and I’d like to see to something similar done here.

2.     More Alolan Forms…

One of the major additions  to Pokemon Sun and Moon was the inclusion of Alolan forms, Pokemon from a different region, in this case they were all native to Kanto, who had adapted to the Alolan environment in some cases for survival and others because the climate suited them better. While all the Alolan forms seem so far have hailed from the Kanto region, to go in line with the virtual console releases of Gold and Silver last month, I think it’s time for some of Johto to get some new and interesting forms. Pokemon such as Aipom, Ariados, Forretress, Lantern and Donphan could all use some kind of switch-up to make them a little more interesting for the players to use and often have been forgotten in previous releases.

3.     Access to other regions…

Something that has only so far, to my knowledge, existed in generation 2 releases was the ability to visit a different region. Generation 2 allowing you to travel from Johto to Kanto was awesome, and added a lot of additional content to the games. While many have all but given up hope on this ever happening again, a small clip in one of the trailers shows the inside of a building that looks extraordinarily like the Electric Gym in Kanto. This and the fact that Ash has recently returned to Kanto on a field trip in the Anime, could point to the possibility of the player being able to travel back and explore the full region, or small parts of several regions, either of which I’d be extremely happy with.

4.     Your Pokemon follows you…

This is a past feature that for whatever reason has been removed after being implemented a couple of times, in Pokemon Yellow, HeartGold and SoulSilver. This is a purely cosmetic feature that fans have been begging for since the beginning of the franchise, and while it probably won’t affect my enjoyment much, it would still be really cool to see my partner Pokemon follow me around during my travels.
