Be Your Best Self

Motivational post? Why not!

I think we all try be the best by trying to hard, and sometimes that actually makes us lose who we are as a person or we end up hating everything. I know I am guilty of this a lot of the time, so I thought why not a post about being your best self? Here are some simple ways you can be yourself, your best self.

Don’t be afraid to be ‘imperfect’
Let’s not kid ourselves, no one, and I mean no one is 100% perfect. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, we all react differently to different situations and get along with some people and not others. We can be good at something but bad at something else. It doesn’t mean we are bad and lower than the best. We are just our own selves, we are good at we do. So, think about your talents, however little, and work on them. Pick out the things that you enjoy and focus on them. Don’t be afraid to take a leap of faith in something you think will be good just because ‘society’ does not think it.

Don’t hide away
I know when we feel down, or feel like we aren’t an ‘amazing’ person we don’t allow ourselves to shine. You may think you’re boring and no one is interested in your interests, but how can you know that for sure unless you show what you like? So, don’t be afraid to go to that social event or be afraid to talk to that cute girl/guy just because you may be you’re boring. Good things don’t come unless you try.

Being uncomfortable can be good
I know when we are all placed in an uncomfortable scenario we tend to evade. But actually, being uncomfortable can be a good thing sometimes. Sometimes it helps you to learn new things or face fears that you may have previously not faced. It may also allow you to develop skills that you might have not realised, or even interact with people you may not have before. So, don’t be afraid to be uncomfortable! It’s a good thing at times.

Surround yourself with positivity
Don’t stay around the people that bring you down, or don’t allow you to shine in your manner. Don’t be the sheep, follow your own path. Being friends doesn’t mean you have to be identical. You are your own person. Your environment is a massive influence on you as a person, your attitude and just how you go about your life. If you have negativity how do you hope to grow and be your best self?

Enjoy the little things
Sometimes we get so immersed into the material life that we forget about the small blessings we have. Appreciate them, and you will notice how slowly material things will matter less and you will enjoy life more.

Go easy on yourself
Stop comparing yourself to others. Appreciate yourself, and the person you are. You may believe another person is smarter or more attractive, but someone else thinks the same about you. Everyone is different and unique in their own way. Remember that and love yourself.
