On my way to clear skin #1: my current skincare routine

For as long as I can remember, I have never had clear skin. I always have had some blemishes. There was a time where it was really bad. I went to the dermatologist back then, but nothing seemed to work. I stopped those sessions back then, as I grew older, my skin seemed to calm down. But over these last few months things have gotten really bad again.

I have combination to dry, acne prone skin. Now the problem with most acne products is that they really dry out your skin. Not an ideal situation… my skin feels like sandpaper when I use it. So then I have to stop using the products, and the acne kicks in twice as hard…

The spots I have are mostly around my mouth and on my chin. The biggest problem is that I don’t know what the triggers are. It’s not like I only get it around my period, I don’t feel stressed, I eat quite clean, I haven’t used any new product lately. So I don’t know what makes me breakout like that.

Back in April, I changed my entire skincare routine. I started using the 3 step system from Clinique. I use the cleanser and the toner for combination to dry skin. These work wonderful, my skin doesn’t get dry at all when I use this. As a moisturizer, I used the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clearing Moisturizer. But I didn’t feel like this last product did a lot for my skin. So I started using the La Roche Posay Effeclar duo + creme. The sunscreen I use, you’ve seen in this article. In the beginning, this routine seemed to work, my skin cleared up. And it still works, my forehead and cheeks are really clear now, but my chin… Oh god, nothing seems to work there.

So what am I going to do now? Well, as I’m writing this, I have an appointment, later today, with a dermatologist this afternoon. I’ll keep you updated. Wish me luck!
